Republican presidential candidate and Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday that Donald Trump forced him to do what his Senate staff never could — get a new phone.

Mr. Graham went shopping after Mr. Trump, the most flamboyant candidate in the GOP’s crowded presidential field, last week read aloud the South Carolina senator’s private phone number at a public event, part of a war of words after the real estate mogul mocked Sen. John McCain’s war record.

In response, Mr. Graham crafted a good-natured video in which he chops, blends and smashes his outdated flip-phone.

“I’m sure Apple’s stock will soar. I’ve got an iPhone,” Mr. Graham said on ABC’s “This Week.”

Indeed the senator, who once famously said he has never sent an email, now can read and send electronic mail, download apps and more.

Turning to the race itself, he said Mr. Trump’s position at the top of the Republican field will falter in due time.

Mr. Graham, who said he understands the Mideast region “better than anyone,” insisted that Mr. Trump is simply unqualified to serve as commander-in-chief.

“The marketplace will work over time, and we’re going to get serious about winning in 2016,” he said.
