The Obama administration on Thursday slammed Sen. Ted Cruz and his “pro-war” position on Iran while also mocking a rally held just across the street from the White House.
Mr. Cruz, Texas Republican and 2016 presidential candidate spoke at the Lafayette Park rally, organized in opposition to the recent nuclear deal with Tehran. Protesters also demanded the return of American hostages still being held in Iran.
Asked about the rally and Mr. Cruz’s involvement in it, the White House said the Texas senator wants war.
“I was aware Sen. Cruz was planning to hold a pro-war rally in front of the White House today,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters.
Mr. Earnest added that, from what he has heard, Mr. Cruz had little new to say about the Iran deal.
