Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump slammed the Department of Veterans Affairs as the “most corrupt agency in the United States” and said “you fix it by getting Trump elected president.”

The VA is “probably the most incompetently run agency in the United States,” Mr. Trump said. “Run by, you know, and involved with [John] McCain and all of the political people.”

“The greatest of all are the veterans, and they are treated so badly,” he told The Blaze TV host Dana Loesch. “They’re treated so badly by the Veterans Administration.”

Robert McDonald, secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, is scheduled to testify Wednesday on Capitol Hill before the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

Mr. Trump has been under fire recently for comments he made about the military service of Mr. McCain, who chairs the Senate Armed Services Committee and helped shepherd recent legislation to make reforms to the VA.

Mr. Trump said waiting lists at doctors’ offices are longer than they’ve ever been.

“You fix it with good management; you fix it by getting Trump elected president. That’s what you do,” he said. “I’d fire everybody, I’d get it — it would be so good. It would be so good. I mean, I would know exactly — and I’d get the best managers. We have a bunch of guys that don’t know what they’re doing and tremendous corruption. You saw there was a big corruption scandal the other day again with somebody, with hundreds of people, all corrupt.”
