The Washington Nationals have selected the contract of right-handed reliever Abel de Los Santos from Double-A Harrisburg and optioned right-hander Blake Treinen to Triple-A Syracuse.
Washington also moved left fielder Jayson Werth from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL to make room for de Los Santos on the 40-man roster before Monday night’s game against the New York Mets.
De Los Santos, 4-4 with a 2.65 ERA in 26 appearances at Harrisburg this season, was part of the trade that sent Ross Detwiler to the Texas Rangers.
Treinen is 2-2 with a 4.39 ERA in 32 relief appearances this season for the Nationals.
Nationals manager Matt Williams said the team will bring back right-hander Joe Ross from the minors to start Tuesday’s game against the Mets.
