OPINION:
Hillary Clinton has no compelling rationale for a presidential run save to be the first female president. She is further hampered by her record. After serving as first lady, senator from New York and secretary of state, it remains that only failures stick to her name. Hillary-Care during her husband’s first term, Travel-gate, the Rose Law Firm billing walk-about, the cattle futures bonanza — these are what we remember along with the 2008 confabulation of dodging sniper fire during the Bosnian war. As for her time in the Senate and Cabinet, there is nothing with purchase on our minds save for errors like the reset with Russia, praising Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad as a reformer just before he started slaughtering his people, failing to designate Boko Haram as a terrorist organization, and all things Benghazi. And now we have email-gate and the Clinton Foundation financial shenanigans preceded by the amazing statement that businesses and corporations do not create jobs.
Mrs. Clinton has name recognition but little else. Her best strategy may be to rely on the mainstream media to play up her Republican rival’s foot-in-mouth problems while shielding her from her own.
