Russia’s national symbol was killed and eaten by a tiger released into the wild by Vladimir Putin.
“Putin’s Tiger,” who has been named Boris by his observers, killed a young brown bear in Russia’s far east nature reserve located in the Amur region, ABC News reported Wednesday. Boris was released by Mr. Putin in May 2014.
“By the time we arrived at his hunting-ground, there wasn’t much left of Boris’ feast,” said Vyacheslav Kastrikin, the park’s deputy director, Interfax reported.
This isn’t the first time a tiger released by the Russian president has made news. A rare Siberian tiger named Ustin wandered into China and killed multiple goats on a goat farm in 2014.
“When I opened the goat house in the morning, dead goats were everywhere,” farmer Guo Yulin told China’s official Xinhua News Agency at the time, The Associated Press reported Nov. 26, 2014.
The World Wildlife fund estimates that only 450 Amur tiger are still in existence, ABC reported.
