SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — If you are still hoping to see the Dalai Lama of Tibet’s appearance at the University of Utah in October, you are out of luck: Tickets for the event sold out in 15 minutes.

The Deseret News reports that university officials say tickets for the Oct. 18 appearance went on sale at 10 a.m. Monday and were gone in minutes.

While he’s in town, the Dalai Lama will also deliver the keynote address at the Parliament of the World’s Religions meeting at the Salt Palace Convention Center on Oct. 17.

The Dalai Lama is also scheduled to dedicate the Tibetan Community Center in a private event.

KSL-TV reports that the community is rushing to finish converting the 10,000-square-foot warehouse into a place for prayer in time for his visit.

The Huntsman Center at the University of Utah seats 15,000 people. The event’s tickets cost $10 for students, $20 for staff and $35 for public.

His Holiness’ themes are often about basic human values and happiness, inter-religious harmony and the tenets of peace and nonviolence in Tibetan Buddhism.
