GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump told a crowd in Las Vegas on Saturday that he “loves” Mexico and China, but said that both countries pose a threat to the United States.
“You can’t be great if you don’t have a border, no matter what you do,” Mr. Trump said at the annual FreedomFest Conference, NBC News reported. “And you can’t be great if China is taking all your jobs.”
The conservative conference bills itself as the “world’s largest gathering of free minds.”
Mr. Trump continued to say that he loves China for boosting his business earning, saying “How can you not love China when they pay me?” NBC reported.
He added that he loves “the spirit” of the Mexican people but added “they kill us at the border. People flow through at the border, and they send people through that they don’t want.”
The comments come as Mr. Trump continues to receive backlash over comments he made on immigration, calling Mexican immigrants rapists and criminals and saying Mexico wasn’t sending it’s best people to the U.S.
