Retired Lt. Col. Oliver North said Wednesday that terrorists once set their sights on his family — specifically, an Islamic jihadi cell operating out of Virginia.

“They went after my family in 1986,” Mr. North said during an interview Wednesday with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren, Newsmax reported.

He said the cell targeted his home based on orders from higher-ups in Libya. The FBI had actually monitored the group for some time, he added, and his family was ultimately moved to safety — though they had to stay away from their residence for several months.

Mr. North also called for a tightening of America’s national security and intelligence measures.

“Otherwise, we are going to have attacks just like we just saw in Paris.” he said, Newsmax reported.
