Matthew Christian Cash, a Pennsylvania man with an lengthy rap sheet that includes assault and reckless endangerment, was arrested and taken to Bellevue Hospital after allegedly crashing his Audi into a police patrol car — and almost hitting two Port Authority officers — while screaming, “I want to kill cops,” witnesses told the New York Post.

“He was putting up a fight,” said Michael Rosselli, a man who saw the incident as it unfolded, the New York Post reported. “They had to get him into the cruiser. He was kicking at the window, trying to get out. They had medics on standby.”

Mr. Cash, 24, was driving with a female who told police that he became irate after receiving a phone call. He then drove his vehicle right into the patrol car, police said, adding that they weren’t clear if he was aiming for the two officers or for another in a nearby security booth, at the mouth of the Holland Tunnel, the New York Post said.

Either way, police said he screamed at least twice, “I want to kill cops,” the New York Post said. Authorities also reportedly found an amount of synthetic marijuana in his car and said that Mr. Cash claimed that he was high on angel dust.

The specific charges for Mr. Cash were still pending, the newspaper said.
