Washington Wizards point guard John Wall continued to lead voting among Eastern Conference backcourt players for the NBA All-Star game when the third batch of results were released Thursday.
Wall has received 564,977 votes from fans. Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade remains in second place among Eastern Conference backcourt players.
“I didn’t think I would be at the top,” Wall said. “I think I would be in it just because of the way I’m playing and my team winnings games. Like I said in the past, as a point guard you get known by winning games, not by just having big numbers.”
After being named an All-Star for the first time last season, Wall appears set to start the Feb. 15 game this season in Madison Square Garden. All-Star game starters will be announced Jan. 22.
Wall is averaging a double-double, with 17.3 points per game and a league leading 10.3 assists.
Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James leads all players in votes with 971,299.
