Two people in Utah and another seven in California have been confirmed as contracting measles — and their common denominator is they all took trips to theme parks in the Golden State owned by Disney, medical authorities said.
Three more California residents have been identified as possibly having measles, The Associated Press reported.
All nine with confirmed measles visited Disneyland or Disney California Adventure between Dec. 15 and Dec. 20, the California Department of Public Health reported. They range from 8 months old, to 21 years old. AP said.
“The best way to prevent measles and its spread is to get vaccinated,” said Ron Chapman, director of the California Department of Health, AP said.
Symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and a red rash.
