Sen. Lindsey Graham said journalists “should be concerned” about becoming “soft targets,” following Wednesday’s terror attack at the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo that left 12 people dead.
“People in your business need to be concerned,” the South Carolina Republican told CNN’s Dana Bash.
“They’re moving away from military style targets,” Mr. Graham said. “They’re beginning to target soft targets. … You’re soft targets, and they hate the idea of being able to tell a story.”
Mr. Graham, a member of the Senate Armed Services committee, said his thoughts were “based on common sense,” not actual intelligence reports.
He couldn’t say whether the Islamic State group was directly involved in the Paris attacks, but said he would be “shocked” if the group didn’t “at least inspire” it.
