Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said during a televised interview that perhaps President Obama ought to think twice about withdrawing all troops from his country by 2016.
“If both parties, or, in this case, multiple partners, have done their best to achieve the objective and progress is very real, then there should be willingness to re-examine a deadline,” Mr. Ghani said during a “60 Minutes” interview on CBS.
Interviewer Lara Logan followed up with the question: “Did you tell President Obama that?”
And Mr. Ghani’s answer, The Hill reported: “President Obama knows me. We don’t need … to tell each other.”
Mr. Obama plans to withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan by 2016. About 10,000 American troops are still in-country.
