President Obama at a Democratic retreat in Pennsylvania spoke about the middle class, the budget — and that he now realizes he’s at least partially to blame for his party’s midterm election losses.

“It is our obligation to make sure that we are crystal clear about what he stand for and who we are fighting for,” Mr. Obama said, Mediaite reported. “We were disappointed with the outcome with the last election and there are a lot of reasons for it and I’m happy to take on some of the blame.”

Mr. Obama then qualified that acceptance of personal responsibility with a slight dig at others in the Democratic Party.

He said the midterms could have turned out more successful if some in his party weren’t so “shy [and] defensive about the things we’ve accomplished,” he said, the news blog reported.
