Secretary of State John Kerry was fined $50 by Boston authorities for failing to shovel snow in front of his Boston home.

Mayor Martin Walsh had warned that he would be cracking down on those who failed to remove the piles of snow from the sidewalk areas in front of their homes — and he did. Mr. Kerry was fined $50 for leaving the snow piles untouched at his Beacon Hill mansion, The New York Times reported.

At the time, Mr. Kerry was in Saudi Arabia, at the funeral for King Abdullah, the newspaper reported.

Glen Johnson, a spokesman for Mr. Kerry, said the fine will be promptly paid. He also said people were sent to shovel the area, and it’s now cleared, The New York Times said.
