PHILADELPHIA — Kethan Savage scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds, and had four assists to lead George Washington to a 64-60 victory over Saint Joseph’s on Saturday afternoon.

Kevin Larsen added 15 points, nine boards, and five assists for the Colonials (11-3, 1-0 Atlantic 10), and Yuta Watanabe finished with 12 points off the bench.

George Washington was in control for much of the game, taking a 13-point lead into the break and extending it to as many as 20 with six and a half minutes remaining.

The Hawks (6-6, 0-1 A-10) would battle back down the stretch, cutting the lead to four on the strength of an 18-4 run punctuated by a 3-pointer from Chris Wilson with 12 seconds remaining. A lay-up by Wilson six seconds later helped trim the deficit to three, but Joe McDonald made one of two free throws on the following possession and Patricio Garino grabbed the offensive rebound.

DeAndre Bembry led Saint Joseph’s with 22 points and eight rebounds, while Wilson added 13 points and nine rebounds.
