Ryan Bundy, the 42-year-old son of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy — who was at the heart of an armed standoff with the federal government over grazing rights — was arrested on charges related to physically and verbally resisting police.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were trying to serve him with an arrest warrant while he was at the Iron County Justice Court for a separate matter, and he allegedly resisted, Reuters reported. Deputies subdued him and charged him with interfering with an officer — which was the charge listed on the warrant — and with the additional alleged infraction of resisting arrest, the sheriff’s office said.
His father made national headlines months ago for facing off with armed Bureau of Land Management officials who were trying to seize his cattle because he refused to pay cattle grazing fees. BLM eventually returned the cattle.
Another Bundy son, Cliven Lance Bundy, was arrested in Las Vegas last August on a probation violation from a guilty plea he offered for burglary and theft charges, Reuters reported.
