Bill Clinton jokes: If Hillary wins, just call me Adam — the first man

Former President Bill Clinton joked during a taped interview with celebrity cook Rachael Ray that he would likely change his name to Adam if his wife and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were to win the White House.

Why Adam?

He’s the original first man, The Hill reported.

Mr. Clinton also said the name could then serve for all the men whose wives, in future years, might become president — and wondered aloud about the scenario of a gay couple assuming the top executive spots, The Hill reported.

“Let’s say if a woman became president, we could — I could — be called ’Adam.’ I don’t know,” he said, during the taping, The Hill reported. “You know, if the president is a man, you call the president’s spouse, ’the first lady,’ so we’ll have to cross this bridge if a gay couple [is ever in the White House].”

He then admitted he was joking, but Twitter — tipped off to his comments — shot back some insults.

“Adam? No way. That would just give Bill a license to go forth and multiply,” Monique Jones tweeted, IJReview.com reported.

Mr. Clinton capped with an endorsement for his wife to seek the high executive office.

“Look, I love my wife,” he said, The Hill reported. “Whatever she wants to do, I’m for. I think it’d be good for the country because she’s the ablest person I’ve ever worked with. If she decided not to do it, I’d give her the bucket list, and we’d go check ’em off.”
