A group of political operatives who’ve worked for President Obama have touched down in Israel, poised to campaign against the re-election of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, an Israeli newspaper reported.
Haaretz reported the team — made up of five Democratic consultants and headed up by strategist Jeremy Bird — flew to Israel right after the White House publicly objected to Mr. Netanyahu’s plan to speak to Congress in March about Iran’s nuclear program.
Mr. Bird was the field director for Mr. Obama’s 2008 Democratic primary in South Carolina, when he bested Hillary Clinton, Newsmax reported.
The group of Democrats has joined efforts with Victory 2015, an organization that wants to push opposition candidates for the March 17 parliamentary elections, Newsmax said.
And “V15,” as it’s dubbed, is joined with OneVoice International, another opposition group founded years ago by an American businessman to bring about a “two-state solution” between Israel and the Palestinians, Newsmax reported.
Mr. Bird reportedly said that his goal is to organize the two groups’ campaigns and bolster door-to-door campaign efforts, Haaretz reported.
