As part of his #itsAaron campaign, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers surprised a group of children who have lost a parent serving in the U.S. military.

Rodgers made a surprise visit to three sisters — Alexis, Starr and Kylee — and a boy, Dylan. The girls’ father, Army Spc. Grant Dampier, died in Iraq in 2006, and Dylan’s dad, Staff Sgt. Chad Simon, was killed in 2005 by an IED in Iraq, Sports Illustrated reported.

The kids attended a weeklong camp called Camp Hometown Heroes, which is designed to help children who have lost a family member in the military.

Rodgers spent the day fishing with the children and talking to them about their experiences at the camp.

Mr. Rodgers and attorney David Gruber created itsAaron, which seeks out nonprofit organizations and gives children a chance to hang out with the all-star quarterback.

“Aaron Rodgers is showing up when you don’t expect him to hang out with people whose lives have been deeply impacted by the wonderful work of nonprofit organizations in Wisconsin,” a description on the website says.
