Gov. Andrew Cuomo lifted the travel ban on New Yorkers during a Tuesday morning press conference, but warned that while Winter Storm Juno seemed to have rolled past the state to more northern points, residents should still exercise caution and restraint before taking to the roads.

New Jersey, too, lifted its ban on travel, NBC reported.

Mr. Cuomo said mass transportation, including the subway system, was due to open on a Sunday schedule later in the morning.

Gov. Chris Christie, meanwhile, pulled back on the travel prohibition he had ordered for 21 counties.

The ban was aimed at keeping citizens safe as well as giving emergency and road crews unfettered access to the roads.

In New York, Mr. Cuomo’s ban came with a $300 fine for violators.
