Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has joined other potential 2016 presidential contenders by setting up a political group, “Our American Revival,” that will allow him to raise money and test the waters for a possible run at the White House.
“Our American Revival encompasses the shared values that make our country great; limiting the powers of the federal government to those defined in the Constitution while creating a leaner, more efficient, more effective and more accountable government to the American people,” Mr. Walker said in a statement.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush are other possible candidates who have recently formed similar committees, which allow candidates to gauge support and lay down fundraising markers to prove they would have sufficient resources for a run.
Mr. Walker delivered a well-received performance at GOP Rep. Steve King’s “Iowa Freedom Summit” over the weekend and has a scheduled trip to the early presidential primary state of New Hampshire on the horizon.
The Washington Post first reported on the group Tuesday.
Rick Wiley, former political director for the Republican National Committee, is to serve as the group’s executive director.
