Seventeen Wyoming senators say it’s high time to bring back the firing squad, and they just passed a measure to use the option as a fallback to the lethal injection for death row inmates.

The proposal comes as a range of companies scaled back their production of drugs used to kill inmates. Several other states are also mulling a return to firing squads, at least as an alternative or backup, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Right now, Utah offers the firing squad as an option for inmates who are already on death row — but not for those who are just sentenced to death, NBC News reported. Lawmakers are considering whether to bring it back for any and all inmates, however.
