This is to put in my two cents in support of Mitt Romney as the Republican candidate for president. It is an unfortunate truism in this day and age that a winning candidate must be tall and handsome with an attractive wife. Abe Lincoln would never make it now, nor would some of Mitt’s potential rivals.

More importantly, Mr. Romney has demonstrated more business acumen, intelligence and decency than his rivals. He would have won in 2012 but for the penchant of many independents to demonstrate broad-mindedness by voting for a black candidate.

Granted, Mr. Romney stumbled a bit in that election and may be weak in a couple of really unimportant areas. Those stumbles and perceived weaknesses could be more than compensated for with the right running mate. For that position I nominate Ben Carson.

I believe Mr. Romney and Dr. Carson would be an unbeatable combination, assuming Dr. Carson isn’t in too big of a hurry.
