National Rifle Association News radio host Cam Edwards hit back at HBO’s Bryant Gumbel for his characterization of the group as “pigs,” saying he doubts the celebrity knows many NRA members.

Mr. Edwards, during an interview with The Blaze at the Las Vegas SHOT Show, said the “Real Sports” host’s assertion was wholly inaccurate.

“The NRA members I know value human life enough to want to protect themselves and their families from those who would do them farm,” he said. “They’re not pigs. They’re good people.”

Mr. Gumbel recently told Rolling Stone he “hates” the NRA, that the group does not care about “human life” and is a “curse upon the American landscape” — an opinion Mr. Edwards doubts is rooted in any personal interaction.

“I have a sneaking suspicion Bryant Gumbel hasn’t spent much time around NRA members,” he said. “I could introduce him to mothers and fathers, veterans and active duty members of the military, law enforcement officers, doctors and paramedics I know who are proud members of the NRA.”
