A drone overloaded with methamphetamine crashed at a supermarket parking lot near the San Ysidro crossing, a border site that separates Mexico and California.
Tijuana police spokesman Jorge Morrua said authorities found six packets — weighing 6 pounds — taped to the remote-controlled craft, The Associated Press reported.
Police are now trying to determine the drone’s place of origin and the identity of the operator, AP said. This isn’t the first example of a drone carting illicit goods.
Just a few months ago, authorities in South Carolina discovered a drone by a prison that will carting cellphones, marijuana and tobacco.
