Speaker John Boehner’s facial expressions, as seen over President Obama’s left shoulder during the State of the Union speech, took front and center in a video that’s made a splash on YouTube.

Of note on “The Best of John Boehner’s Microexpressions,” posted by the Daily Beast, was his repeated lip-licking and his penchant for the understatement.

He only slightly smiled, for instance, after Mr. Obama characterized the state of the union as “strong,” the video showed. And his scowl during Mr. Obama’s tout of foreign policy successes in the Middle East was especially slight.

And on Mr. Obama’s most talked-about quips — that he has no campaigns to run, that he “won both of them?” Mr. Boehner barely blinked.
