A commander with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard sent a blunt warning to Israel, telling the Jewish nation that it will “certainly pay” for killing one of Tehran’s top generals during an airstrike in Syria — an airstrike that Israeli forces don’t even admit they conducted.
Nasser Soltani said during a Wednesday ceremony for Brig. Gen. Mohammad Ali Allahdadi, who’s due to be buried in Sirjan on Thursday: “Israel will certainly pay for what it did,” The Associated Press reported.
Mr. Soltani also said that Allahdadi was “martyred while performing his advisory mission” in Syria, local media reported.
Both Iran and Hezbollah have blamed Israel for the airstrike in the Golan Heights that left Allahdadi dead. Israel, meanwhile, has neither confirmed nor denied that its military was involved in any of the recent airstrikes over Syria.
