“Clinton the Musical” is hitting the off-Broadway circuit this spring, just in time for what’s predicted by many political insiders to be former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s announced intent to run for president.
The theatrical performance is labeled in The Washington Post as a “bawdy comedy” that covers and reveals issues related to former President Bill Clinton and his wife.
The show ran at a New York festival a few months ago to critical acclaim, with The New York Times calling it a “hilarious madcap political farce,” The Post reported.
The show’s producers said in a press release that the play “explores the two very different sides” of Mr. Clinton — “WJ, the wholesome, intelligent one,” and “Billy … the randy, charming one.”
“With Hillary Clinton at their side, [the two versions] will handle issues from the White House to Whitewater, the sax to the sex, social security to social climbers and in the process make history,” the release proclaimed, The Post reported. “Maybe. You cannot miss those ’hillary-ous’ new musical and outrageous double bill!”
Tickets, between $75 and $95, went on sale Tuesday, The Post reported.
Mrs. Clinton is the likely front-runner for the Democratic nomination, though she has yet to formally announce her plans.
