Sen. Rand Paul cautioned Republicans against supporting former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for another run at the White House, saying his candidacy wasn’t likely to produce anything new — that it would be pretty much business as usual.

“The same old, same old has been tried,” Mr. Paul said, Fox news reported. “And if we try the same thing again, we might get the same result.”

Mr. Paul initially told Fox News that “the more the merrier” was the general attitude about the range of Republican candidates who were making moves to enter the 2016 race. But when it comes to Mr. Romney, he wasn’t so sure.

“[Mr. Romney] fell short” in appealing to a wide range of voters, he said, Fox News reported. “So maybe we need to keep looking.”

Mr. Rand isn’t alone in his criticism of Mr. Romney. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz just called him the “mushy middle” and not a good GOP selection.
