A would-be robber gave the thumbs-up sign and canceled a convenience store heist just outside Denver when he recognized his victim.

“[Expletive], I was going to rob this place but I know you,” the suspect told the clerk at the Quick Save convenience store in Wheat Ridge before leaving, a local ABC affiliate reported Wednesday.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect made off in an early-model, full-size, gray or silver four-door sedan with tinted windows and no license plates, the station reported.

ABC reported that a nearby 7-Eleven was robbed shortly afterward by a man fitting the robber’s profile.
