Robert Ellis, an entrepreneur who spoke at a recent Heritage Foundation conference titled “Opportunity for All, Favoritism for None,” gave a pretty clear reason why former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney doesn’t stand a chance of winning the 2016 presidential nomination: He’s a “nerd,” he said.

“I’m sure he would make a great president,” Mr. Ellis said in an interview with the Huffington Post from the Heritage Foundation conference. “He knows math, and he understands economics. And he’s a hundred percent honest. But the public doesn’t get moved by him. He doesn’t stir their hearts. We need somebody who will light the fire.”

That’s hardly Mr. Romney, Mr. Ellis said about the former Massachusetts governor, Mediaite reported.

“Romney is a nerd,” he said. “A nice nerd, a handsome nerd. But nerds don’t win elections.”

He made the remarks at the same time Mr. Romney, who lost the presidential election in 2012, gave strong indications he’s thinking about running again.
