As he takes steps toward a possible third bid for the White House, 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney has been invited to address the Republican National Committee’s winter meeting in San Diego this week.

Other possible GOP contenders in 2016 scheduled to address attendees include retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, outgoing Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

The Washington Post first reported on the invitation and also reported that Mr. Romney has been working the phones, calling former aides and donors about 2016, since telling donors Friday he’s considering another run.
