The new cover of Charlie Hebdo was just published by French media and, as promised, it’s neither cave nor cower to terrorists. Rather, the prophet Muhammad is featured prominently, holding a sign: “Je Suis Charlie,” or “I am Charlie.”
Above is the caption “Tout Est Pardonne,” which translates into “All is forgiven.”
Various media reported the latest edition will run off between 1 million and 3 million copies — a significant hike from the paper’s usual 60,000. And inside will be more cartoons and several other messages related to the Paris attacks, Euronews reported.
Contributor Patrick Pelloux said in the news outlet: “Of course we will show some drawings by [killed] Cabu, Georges, Honore, Tignous and Charb, that have never been seen before. We will write something as well which will make us feel good.”
A spokesman for the newspaper said prior to the new cover’s release that “it was important to cede nothing to extremists,” Euronews reported.
The actual edition will be published Wednesday but French media is already running the cover.
