The al Qaeda branch in North Africa, the Islamic Maghreb, took to its jihadist websites to issue France a new warning that basically vowed more violence and attacks were coming.
“France pays the cost of its violence on Muslim countries and the violation of their sanctity,” said the AQIM in a statement, CNN reported. “As long as its soldiers occupy countries such as Mali and Central Africa and bombard our people in Syria and Iraq, and as long as its lame media continues to undermine our prophet (Muhammed), France will expose itself to the worst and more.”
The warning comes as France is still mourning the death of 10 Charlie Hebdo satirical newspaper staffers and two police officers last Wednesday, the street killing of a policewoman on Thursday and the killing of four hostages at a kosher deli on Friday. Three of the terror suspects were killed but at least one more, Hayat Boumeddiene, remains at large and is believed to have fled safely to Syria.
