A San Francisco water manager is facing suspension after employees ratted him out for allegedly urinating several times in a reservoir that supplies drinking water to nearly 2.5 million Bay Area residents.
Public Utilities Commission employee Martin Sanchez could be suspended for five days without pay after an anonymous complaint alleged that a number of employees saw him urinating “several times” in the Priest Reservoir in the Sierra foothills, a local CBS affiliate reported.
Utilities commission spokesman Tyrone Jue told the San Francisco Chronicle that the 675 million-gallon reservoir had been drained for maintenance at the time and poses no health danger. Still, he said Mr. Sanchez’s actions were unacceptable.
“The bottom line is — you pee in the wrong place again, and you are toast,” Mr. Jue said.
Mr. Sanchez, who earns $111,000 annually, was in line for a promotion before the incident, the Associated Press reported.
Untreated water from the Priest Reservoir is treated with ultraviolet light and chlorine before it’s sent by pipeline to Bay Area customers, the CBS affiliate reported.
