Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and fellow party lawmaker, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, were mocked by Twitter for taking time out of their political schedules to hit the Grammy Awards ceremony, with one snarking about their show-ups: “Fighting for the Middle Class.”
Most of the tweeted criticisms focused on Democrats’ considerable efforts to further the cause of income equality — and point to the glaring inconsistency of two of the party’s top tier at the posh event.
One wrote: “@DWStweets @JacksonLeeTX18 bet they get swag + tonight! representing poor citizens in style, going 1% tonight,” BizPacReview.com reported.
Another: “Will they be performing? Receiving Best Recitation of Leftist at Talking Points award?”
Yet another, to @DWStweets and @JacksonLeeTX18: “Please lecture me on income inequality and which party is out of touch again?”
And a fourth, BizPacReview.com reported: “@DWStweets @JacksonLeeTX18 Fighting for the Middle Class.”
