A key al Qaeda figure operating out of Yemen was killed over the weekend by a U.S. airstrike, the terrorist organization confirmed.
Sheikh Harith bin Ghazi al-Nathari was killed Jan. 31, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) said Thursday on its social media accounts.
Al-Nathari was a member of the terrorist organization’s legal committee and an advisor on religious affairs, Reuters reported Thursday.
At least two more airstrikes occurred in Yemen after al-Nathari’s death, including a drone strike Monday that killed at least three al Qaeda suspects, Reuters reported.
