James Woods, an outspoken Hollywood conservative, took to Twitter to issue a sarcastic response to the Islamic State’s burning of the Jordanian pilot, taking seeming subtle shots at Democrats, the White House and others who decried the previous administration’s use of water boarding as unnecessary torture.

His tweet: “If we ever capture the ISIS thug who burned a heroic pilot alive, let’s pray we don’t pour a cup of water on his face. That would be cruel.”

The message has been retweeted more than 5,500 times.

Most recently, U.S. Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch told senators that water boarding was “torture,” and “illegal,” Talking Points Memo reported.

In 2009, President Obama reaffirmed his decision to ban waterboarding by U.S. intelligence officials and at Guantanamo Bay, telling a White House press conference crowd: “I believe that waterboarding was torture and, whatever legal rationals were used, it was a mistake,” The Guardian reported.
