Former presidential adviser David Axelrod said in his new book that President Obama was somewhat vexed by GOP candidate Mitt Romney’s concession call in 2012, particularly by a perceived insinuation that he won by pandering to black voters.
Mr. Obama was “unsmiling during the call and slightly irritated when it was over,” Mr. Axelrod wrote in “Believer: My 40 Years in Politics,” the New York Daily News reported.
“’You really did a great job of getting out the vote in places like Cleveland and Milwaukee’ — in other words, black people. That’s what he thinks this was all about,” Mr. Obama said after he hung up with Mr. Romney, the Daily News reported.
The book, due out Feb. 10, also refers to Vice President Biden as an incessant talker.
“[He] is a decent guy, but man, that guy can just talk and talk,” Mr. Axelrod quoted Mr. Obama as privately saying, the Daily News reported.
