Susan Williams, the woman who was married to Academy-award-winning actor Robin Williams for about three years, is battling his three children — Zachary, Zelda and Cody — for ownership of the late actor’s clothing and personal items.
Mrs. Williams filed paperwork in San Francisco Court in December alleging that some of her dead husband’s personal items were taken without her OK, The Associated Press reported.
The children, meanwhile, say the items rightly belong to them and that Mrs. Williams is “adding insult to a terrible injury” by trying to change the terms of the trust agreement that Williams set up before his suicide, AP said.
“The Williams’ children are heartbroken that Petitioner, Mr. Williams’ wife of less than three years, has acted against his wishes by challenging the plans he so carefully made for his estate,” attorneys for the children said in court papers, AP said.
But James Wagstaffe, Mrs. Williams’ attorney, said his client was only seeking guidance about the terms of the trust — and was not looking for a long legal battle.
“This is not ugly,” he said, AP reported. “I would not say this is anticipated to be a highly contested proceeding.”
Williams hung himself in his Tiburon home in August.
