Cairo International Airport has gone on high alert after security officials found and defused two bombs on the property — and that was after a blast went off in the downtown area of the city from a bomb planted inside an electrical box.

Nobody was injured from the downtown blast, but several passersby were startled, CP24 reported.

The first airport bomb was planted at the arrival area of EgyptAir; the second was found near a police patrol location. They both seemed to be under the control of a mobile phone operator, CP24 reported.

Police defused the devices and swept the area for evidence of other explosives.
