“Duck Dynasty” patriarch Phil Robertson shared a biblical tip Friday on how to shrink the chances of getting a sexually transmitted disease: promote traditional marriage.

“One man, one woman — married for life,” Mr. Robertson said in a speech at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in suburban Washington.

He said he was saddened to learn that more than 100 million people have sexually transmitted diseases, including herpes, which he said only takes 30 seconds to catch.

He called it the “revenge of the hippies.”

“Sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll have come back to haunt us in a bad way,” Mr. Roberston said.

As for his promoting of traditional marriage, he said, “if you hate me because I told you that … I love you anyway. … I don’t want you to get sick and die.”
