Voters want Congress to be Congress - and they’re not particularly keen on White House overreach. A new poll conducted after President Obama vetoed the bipartisan Keystone XL pipeline bill reveals this: Voters “want Congress to keep doing what it wants even if the president doesn’t like it.”
And the numbers, from a Rasmussen Reports poll released Thursday:
59 percent of likely U.S. voters think Congress should continue to pass legislation that most members of Congress support - even if the president is opposed.
Only 25 percent believe instead that Congress should change its position to do what Mr. Obama wants.
Sixteen percent are not sure.
The survey of 800 likely U.S. voters was conducted February 24-25.
