Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has secured another finance staffer ahead of his possible presidential bid, bringing on Houston businessman Jeff Reeter to serve as his national finance chairman if he makes a run for the White House.

Mr. Reeter, a managing partner for Northwestern Mutual’s operation in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, also serves on the Board of Regents of Baylor University.

Carson adviser Terry Giles said in an e-mail that he’s known Mr. Reeter for more than a decade “and cannot be more pleased to have his expertise in raising funds and friends for Dr. Carson. He is an extraordinary talent who I look forward to having the opportunity to work with.”

Mr. Reeter’s commitment follows recent announcements that Mark Murray, CEO of the media firm TMA Direct, is on board to oversee small-dollar, grass-roots fundraising and past Gingrich fundraiser Amy Pass has signed on to be national finance director for the would-be campaign.

“With the team of Jeff Reeter and Amy Pass anchoring the traditional fund raising and Mike Murray running Direct Marketing and small donor efforts, we are perfectly positioned to assure Dr. Carson that money will not be an issue should he decide to run for the presidency,” Mr. Giles said.
