Sen. Marco Rubio, Florida Republican, said Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. gets away with saying things every day that would be career-enders for him.

Mr. Rubio was addressing recent comments from former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani in which Mr. Giuliani said he does not believe President Obama loves America.

Speaking in the early presidential state of New Hampshire, Mr. Rubio said he has “tremendous admiration” for Mr. Giuliani.

“I believe the president loves this country but I just think he has bad ideas,” Mr. Rubio said, according to the New Hampshire Journal.

“Every single day Joe Biden says something that would end my career if I said it once,” Mr. Rubio said. “Why must I always answer for someone else in my party?”

Mr. Giuliani has since walked back the remarks to a certain extent, saying in a Wall Street Journal piece that he didn’t intend to question Mr. Obama’s motives or the content of his heart.

He made the remarks at an event where Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who along with Mr. Rubio is eyeing a possible White House run in 2016, was in attendance.

Asked about the comments, Mr. Walker said on CNBC that the mayor can speak for himself and Mr. Obama can speak for himself.

“I’ll tell you, I love America, and I think there are plenty of people, Democrat, Republican, Independent, everywhere in between, who love this country,” Mr. Walker said.
