A class at the University of Michigan titled “Organizational Studies 203: Activism” presses the message: The “morally perverse” capitalistic system in play in America today needs to be overthrown.
Red Alert Politics reported the class textbook is called, “Beautiful Trouble: A Toolbox for Revolution.” And while The College Fix reported that the description states “neither this course, nor its instructional staff, embraces or rejects any ideology, movement or political project,” the news outlet also found a very different mantra in the book.
The book states, The College Fix found: “Capitalists are indifferent to the commodities they produce so long as the need to generate profit is fulfilled see THEORY: Commodity fetishism. Solar energy or tar sands oil, cluster bombs or malaria medication, it does not matter what is produced or what purpose it serves, so long as it is profitable. … The moral perversity of this dynamic is played out daily in an economy that produces luxury cars and gourmet pet food for a few, while allowing the reproduction of almost unthinkable levels of global hunger and poverty.”
The book also states that “capitalism turns men and women into economic cannibals and, having done so, mistakes economic cannibalism for human nature,” Red Alert Politics found.
