Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal didn’t have an MRI Friday morning, but was reassessed by doctors. He will not play Friday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“Things are progressing really good,” Wizards coach Randy Wittman said. “They’re going to amp him up more and more now, so he can get out and do some shooting and running stuff and see how that reacts.”
When asked for a sense of how long Beal will be unavailable, Wittman said, “I don’t think long at all.”
“He’s got no pain anywhere,” Wittman said. “That’s why they told him he can get back on the court doing stuff to see how that reacts. That’s the good thing. I don’t anticipate it (being long), but I’m not a doctor.”
Beal, 21, was dealing with pain in his right big toe before an X-ray showed Feb. 11 a “hot spot” in his lower right fibula, which was a mild stress reaction. Beal has had multiple problems with his right leg since entering the league.
Beal, the Wizards’ second-leading scorer, has not played since leaving in the first quarter against the Charlotte Hornets on Feb. 5.
