Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hit hard at the Obama administration, saying that a nuclear deal that’s being forged between the United States and Iran — a deal that’s been largely discussed behind closed doors — is no good.
A few days ago, Mr. Netanyahu criticized the White House for keeping Israel in the dark about nuke talks, while various media reported that U.S. negotiators were purposely withholding information from the Jewish nation out of fears of leaks.
Now, Mr. Netanyahu says he knows the details of the plan, and he’s not happy with the direction they’re taking.
“We know that Tehran knows the details of talks,” he said, Politico reported. “Now I tell you that Israel also knows the details of the proposed agreement. I think this is a bad agreement that is dangerous for the state of Israel, and not just for it. If anyone thinks otherwise, what is there to hide here?”
Mr. Netanyahu’s remarks come on the heels of a State Department admission that the White House was not going to share details about the deal with Israel. Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the White House was being “mindful not to negotiate in public” in order to “respect and protect the negotiations,” Politico reported.
Relations between Mr. Netanyahu and the White House have heated considerably since the prime minister accepted an invitation from Speaker John Boehner to address Congress.
